Lauren Bailey began her
artistic journey at an early age while growing up on Long Island’s
South Shore. Art appreciation and exploration through crafts and
nature were a regular part of daily life. With the support of her
family she pursued an intense fine art education, concentrating in
sculpture, design, fine craft, and photography while attending schools
in both New York City and Philadelphia. It was while living in
Philadelphia in 1999 that she attended her first silversmithing class
and shortly there after, took her first lampworking lesson. “I knew I
had found my life’s calling in glass and jewelry design”.
Today Lauren lives with her
family in the Pocono Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania where she
works as a full-time glass and jewelry artist. She draws her
greatest inspiration from her natural surroundings, her childhood days
spent on the beaches of Long Island, and from her daily life with her
two young sons. Lauren combines both soft glass and borosilicate
glass with traditional silversmithing techniques to create a diverse
line of art glass, jewelry, and accessories which she offers for sale
in galleries, boutiques, juried art shows, and on the web. Lauren
teaches private and small group lampworking classes and jewelry making
classes. She is also in the process of designing and
manufacturing two new lines of tools and opening Thirteen Moons Gallery
and Hot Glass Studio near her home in Drums, PA in 2007.
